Our history.

1953.

Flensted Mobiles is founded in Denmark.

The Flensted Mobiles adventure began with just two straws and three paper storks. In 1953, Christian Flensted cut out and assembled these simple materials for the christening celebration of his daughter, Mette. What started as a creative and personal gift idea evolved into the iconic Lucky Storks mobile, marking the beginning of Flensted Mobiles.

1955.

Icons are made.

The designs Flowing Rhythm and Science Fiction mark the beginning of a unique Flensted Mobiles design DNA. These two designs embody the essence of the design direction and can still be found in the collection today.

1956.

Going global.

Flensted Mobiles goes global, receiving its first international order.

1966.

An international star.

Flowing Rhythm | Black & Red made its screen debut in 1966 alongside Elizabeth Taylor in the movie "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf".

1970.

A new era begins.

Ole Flensted, son of Christian, designs his first mobile No. 110. Futura | Black, and a new era of iconic mobile making begins.

1975.

Opening of the first Flensted Mobiles boutique.

Flensted Mobiles moved their headquarters to "Frederiksminde" on the island of Funen, where the first Flensted boutique opened as an art shop.

1982.

Second generation.

Ole Flensted took over the company with his wife Aase, building on the legacy of Christian Flensted and expanding the business globally with well-esteemed boutiques and museums.

1988.

Collaboration with world-renowned museum MoMA.

Ole Flensted and Christina Parrett design the very first mobile for the Museum of Modern Art in New York - the Sheep mobile. This marks the beginning of a new era of collaboration with esteemed museums from around the world.

1996.

Iconic collaboration.

Flensted Mobiles enters a collaboration with the Guggenheim Museum New York, launching the mobile Circle Square/Guggenheim designed by Greenberg Kingsley.

2013.

A bestselling icon.

The Niels Bohr Atomic Model Mobile is created in collaboration between Ole Flensted and the Niels Bohr Institute of Copenhagen. It quickly becomes a bestseller.

2023.

Third generation.

Ole and Aase Flensted successfully passes the baton to their son Christophe Duez. He was raised in the family business and have been surrounded by mobiles his enitire life.

2023.

New CEO.

The company is led by CEO Jesper Hammer. Jesper brings a wealth of experience from prominent family-owned Danish companies with a global presence.

2024.

Flensted Hanging Art.

Flensted launch our new brand identity, focusing on the heritage and the cool and aesthetic hanging art.

Handmade Danish Design.

Designed to create a playful and visual silence.

Locally produced.

Each piece is assembled by hand by local craftsmen on Funen, Denmark.
